World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day brings together millions of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world to celebrate unity, cultural diversity, and shared values. World Thinking Day was established in 1926 during the 4th World Conference of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts held at Camp Edith Macy in New York, USA. Delegates chose 22 February because it is the shared birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement, and Olave Baden-Powell, the World Chief Guide. Originally known as Thinking Day, the observance encouraged Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to think about one another across the world and strengthen international friendship. In 1999, it was officially renamed World Thinking Day to emphasize its global significance. Today, millions of members in over 150 countries celebrate the day through educational activities, community service, fundraising, and international cooperation.

World Thinking Day has no religious significance, but it holds great educational, cultural, and humanitarian importance. The observance promotes friendship, leadership, equality, inclusion, and respect for cultural diversity. It encourages young people to understand global challenges, appreciate different cultures, and work together to create positive change.
